Seriously, what in the damn hell? They totally didn't need to erase her memory to give her happiness, or at least that's what I thought initially. But now I wonder, would she have really given up her family to go live a normal human life? Maybe what they did was really necessary, still I wish they had talked it out a bit first. The ending was so sad.

Yeah, I think the author of Karin (is it spelled with an 'i'?) was trying too hard to make the ending bittersweet. Also...

I don't know if it was actually forced though, I mean taking her personality into account. She probably wouldn't have allowed herself to leave the mansion and live a normal life if she still had her memories.
